The biggest key to speeding up your household cleaning is to develop a routine -- do the same things in the same order each time, and move efficiently from one part of the house to the next.
There's a lot of time-saving tricks you can incorporate to make that routine go much faster, however, as well as making things a lot easier on you. These are just a few of our favorite tips.
Fight Hard Water Stains: White Vinegar
Mix 50% white vinegar with 50% water in a spray bottle and let it sit on surfaces with mineral deposits for a few minutes. Hard water stains will come right off.
Invest in a Squeegee
A professional-grade squeegee, which can be had in the neighborhood of $10 or so, is one of the best cleaning investments you can make. Window spray and a sponge will almost inevitably leave streaks, no matter how thorough you are or how expensive the spray is. A squeegee generates pressure and coverage that your hands just can't replicate.
Hydrogen Peroxide Kill Mold Without The Harsh Odor
You don't have to stink the house out with bleach to get rid of persistent mold or mildew in moist areas. Hydrogen peroxide is equally effective at killing it and does so with no odor whatsoever, just mix some with water in a plastic spray bottle.
Clean Range Elements in a Plastic Bag
Whether gas or electric, the heating elements on your oven get coated with grease that's tough to completely remove. The night before your kitchen cleaning, take them off and put each in a plastic sealable freezer bag along with about a third of a cup of ammonia, then leave them sealed overnight. The grease will slide right off in the morning.
